And so ends the Charmy Summer Specials.
Tomorrow: Back to the daily grind and digital text messages.
Twilight Princess is alot less enjoyable on your own.
I miss you, you gentle viking!
Long time no see.
Do you ever wonder why I update so little? Ho ho ho, there's not much reason at all! Just a lack of productivity.
Anyway, I'm not updating just to say hi-bye, but I have some lovely news. (Finally!)
*vaporotem, my girlfriend, is coming over tomorrow again, after almost a year!
She flies from Israel all the way to the Netherlands just to see me. I am so happy!
We will have lots of fun and draw together.
My excitement is impossible to express in words!
We will probably spend alot of time in The Hague and Delft and between, though if you want to try and recognize us you'd have the best luck seeing us in the comic shop near The Hague central station.
We were actually recognized in a manga shop in a big mall in Tel Aviv back in 2007. Haha!
If you know of any cool comic related events in the next two weeks in South Holland please let me know. Poor *vaporotem is missing out on a comiccon in Israel to come here, and the two big anime/manga conventions in the Netherlands are in July and September!
We'll have fun just the same, though.
So please continue to react apatheticaly to my abscence, only with a little warmth in your heart this time.
Ciao ciao, everyone!
After my Lopunny's Valentine picture being marked Mature by DeviantArt staff, it has come to my attention that I may have been careless when judging the content of my art.
My artwork has always been very controversial. Many times I have been told that I have a unique point of view.
Sometimes I will recieve comments saying 'Only you', implying how radical and revolutionary my concepts are.
I can truely understand that alot of people might be very offended when they are forced to view my gallery against their will.
This is why I have decided to, from now on, mark all my art with a Mature warning, like so:
Please keep this in mind when viewing my gallery.
Thank you, and I offer my apologies for any inconvenience I have caused
I dunno what this mudkip shit is about, and I'm not interested.
What I do know is that I don't want to put up with DeviantArt's shit anymore.
Haha, I got atleast twice as many responses as last year!
I get alot of questions on my deviations in the comments, but I can't keep up with most of them.
When I can, I feel it's kind of unfair to answer some questions, but leave others, so I dont answer at all..
That's why I am giving you the opportunity to ask any question about my art that is still bothering you, right here in this journal.
If your question is one that alot of people might want to know, I'll show them up here.
So go for it, loyal watchers! I'm ready this time!
This may be kind of a general question, but how long have you been working on your style of art? I've never seen one like your's before, it's like a perfect blend of animated and realistic, it's very cool and interesting!
My current style took about 4 years to accomplish.
An undeniable influence was *vaporotem; before meeting her I was more into extremely detailed things with little to no colors. As Vap's style was almost the opposite - simple shapes and bright colors - I was blown away. For a while I drew so similair I felt I was just an art-thief. To this day the way I draw eyes (not necesarrily how they end up looking, but really how I draw them) is still strongly related to her.. But obviously my own artistic past showed through.
Over time my style got more complex and detailed again, I learned more about using colors in my own way, used more inspiration from external sources, and not to forget that I ofcourse improved as an artist.
But I think most importantly is that my number one rule has always been to keep things subtle and with meaning. Something has to be behind the art, or it will be empty and unsatisfying to me.
This is probably the reason everything is so soft, and how many people feel my art always tells a story. I want people to drown in it, to feel the story themselves.
For a long time this has been a subconscious matter to me, but I have become more aware of it.
I have been drawing my entire life, comics since I was 10, and got into Japanese art when I was 13.
I hope this answers your question!
1) how do you manage to make that "quality" in your art? ( in quality i mean like the way the art looks "soft"like in here [link] and here [link]
2) is there any tutorial on how you make lines?
3) Man your so awesome ...(wait thats not a question...meh!)
4) how long have you been working with the style your currently on?
6) Do you post your art in another site than DA?
7) what programs you use?
8) and thanks for taking the time to answer ^_^
Hey there, Pipotchi.
1) I don't really have one single way to accomplish that. With every picture I experiment with different ways of doing it, so the largest part of the process is oldfashioned judgement by eye and turning knobs.
The only filter I use is Gaussian Blur, and then I use layers such as Color Burn and Vivid Light to adjust the colors to the feeling I want the picture to have.
It's not as simple as it sounds though; I spend alot of time trying to get these crucial 'last touches' just right!
2) There's not really a tutorial needed. I have a Wacom Graphire2 drawing tablet, I use Photoshop CS2 where I usually use the 5 or 9 standard brush.
3) Haha, thanks!
4) I just answered that in another question, take a look.
6) The only other site I was recently active on was [link] Enter Void. You will find alot of comics here I haven't uploaded here.
Be warned though, not only is it rather old, it is also alot different than what you find on here, which is why I haven't put any of it here.
If you're wondering who Hot Chick or Dr Bibi Dov are, you will want to take a look.
7) Since I got Photoshop CS2 I've stopped using everything else. For a long time I had been searching for the perfect lines, and was active with OpenCanvas 4 and especially Corel Painter X. I still feel Corel Painter X has the smoothest lines, but it lacks good brushes and likes to crash randomly.
I don't like Flash for trying to do my lines for me, and Illustrator's counterintuitive ways are just weird.
8) You're welcome, I hope these were the answers you looked forward to!
Is it sometimes stressful to try and come up with an idea or have an idea and have no idea on how to start it?
Not 'sometimes'.. More like all the time.
What you describe is exactly what I am going through alot. Most of the times I am not able to draw for weeks! This is a truly horrible experience because I do really want to draw.
Moreso, as I said in a previous answer, I need my art to have depth and subtlety, so I can't simply doodle or use drawing exercises other artist might use to fight an artblock.
So yes. It is incredibly stressful.
Indeed, my gallery is not empty because I upload only part of my art; It's all I draw. There's nothing else to upload.
Alas, the artist's burden.
I hope that answers your question!
What have you found is the most affective way to beat artist's block?
Hey there, Hana.
As I answered in another question artist's blocks are a serious issue for me and can't be fought with the usual things.
However, there is something I have had moderate succes with..
When I visited *vaporotem in Israel in March 2007 she showed me how much fun drawing women with boobs is, and it doesnt require alot of thought.
This is why you'll see quite a few of 'em in my gallery!
I hope that answers your question!
Who made yours, vap's and floppy's icons?
I've always thought they were adorable how they match xD
A question alot of people might want to ask. Well, let me tell you..
I made them!
Well, I made the base, based on Pokémon sprites (though not traced).
Then *vaporotem added the tails, and later changed the hair, colors, and eventually those awesome expressions! So you can definately call it a collaboration.
A few weeks ago I edited those panties on mine after an amusing comment by *vaporotem about the contents of my gallery~
I'm glad you like em!
What do you find to be the most effective way to venture into a new style? To broaden your horizons, so to speak?
Hey there, Stargazer.
To start venturing into new styles, I feel an artist needs to stop and think what it is all based on; Reality. Any style is an interpretation of reality, even if it's purple foxes or blue slime people. There's always the essential parts that define a style. How do you draw eyes to look like eyes, how to draw limbs to look like limbs, et cetera; Wether you draw them perfectly detailed or just draw dots and noodles, they are stil interpretations of reality.
Alot of times I see problems with people (even really good artists) focusing too much on style instead of what it's supposed to represent, and in turn 'overdoing' it. Because the artists lost track of what they're doing they stop improving and even take steps backwards.
That said, it's all about experimentation. What version of reality do you feel comfortable with, regardless of if it looks good or not. Don't just look at art when drawing, look at whats around you. How would you turn this 3D line-less world into a 2D sketch..?
To me, experimentation is more important than practice!
I hope that answers your question!
Maybe this is a wierd question but:
Do you have a favourite place to draw? Other than at a desk I mean, a place that you find inspires you?
Hey there, Kita.
I'm sad to say no, I don't. Inspiration usually comes best at places where I have time to think, which is out during a walk or at the gym.. and that's hard to combine with drawing!
I don't even have a desk to draw on, just one of those little shelves for your keyboard and mouse that you can slide underneath the monitor's shelf. Though at times uncomfortable, it remains the best place I can draw.
I'm sorry to disappoint you! (I'm glad I didn't!)
Hello, loyal readers!
I saw this little thing over at my dear *vaporotem, who in turn took it from other people.

If you still need to see the commissions information you can always click on the button in the top right corner of this journal.
See you next time, everyone.
I am taking commissions again. It has been a while since I did my last and I have improved drastically, so I feel I need some new comissions information.
Standard commission: Full color, 500x750
Cost: $30 / 20 for one character.
Multiple characters: For two characters the price increases to $50 / 34, and size increases appropriately.
Method of payment: All payment will be done through PayPal. You will recieve my email when you are ready to pay.
Payment will be done before the commission is finished.
Ownership: All rights to the image and eventual adaptions are mine. You pay for the time and effort put into creating it, not for its use.
If you are able and willing, please send me a note stating what you would like to see.
Thank you very much!
P.S. I'm making a new journal layout, so look forward to this journal being updated. I just wanted to get this information online right away.
EDIT: Yeah I dunno~
This is a new journal entry.
I would like to say happy holidays and happy new year!
I am now 20 years old since December 24 2007.
Thank you everyone who has said 'happy bday'.
I would also like to say thank you to everyone continueing to support my art eventhough I am not uploading shit.
Will something come soon?
We can only hope.
I would also like to thank Gradamit for the most awesome quote .'Why don't you ever use your powers for good?'.
If you are smart, you will understand and laugh your ass off. Highfive!
If you do not understand, remember that ignorance is bliss and you don't know what you are missing anyway.
Also, this movie I made?
Fucking hilarious! I made it like 6 months ago or something. September 26 2007.
You know, when Pokemon DP anime was new, and we all hoped that Ash was finally ditched in favor of new character, and we were watching Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann without seeing the dreadful second part.
So have a look. Mind that the sound is pretty loud for some reason.
Haha it got removed.
Okay, well, that's it!
I hope everyone is doing okay, keep on drawing and uploading shit, because if you don't we might never see the golden egg.
Good night, world. God speed.
P.S. (if you know your manners, you know this is the most important part of any message)
A big shout-out to *vaporotem, who is superbusy yet continues to kick ass!
Get them, girl! Stay hot!
" You think I stand chance ?? I show them !! "
" No !! It dangeroos !! "
" . . . "
I'm sure there are things going on in the world, but just nothing with me at the moment.
I made a new layout, as you can see.. Since I put my time-limit at 5 am, I will enchance it in days/weeks/months to come, since it's kind of pathetic..
I'm thinking about doing something for my 200,000th pageview. Or should I wait for 250?
I would like some suggestions of what to draw. Some good suggestions. What did you like to see me draw and would like to see more of?
You gained 200 gold!
You gained a Rusty Dagger!
